Dallas Therapist for Eating Disorders and Trauma

Dallas therapist specializing in eating disorders welcoming a patient into her counseling studio in Dallas, TX.

I can promise you one thing before we ever sit down in a therapy session. I will never tell you, “No llores, todo estará bien" or “Don’t cry, it’ll all be okay.”

This is the one place you don’t have to pretend to have it all together.

Those emotions you’re constantly pushing down or trying to hide? We’re inviting them to the surface so you can finally acknowledge them and cope with them.

Everyone — the world, your family, your friends, your job, your culture — has told you to hide or fix certain parts of yourself. No más.

At Poppy & Sage, you’re safe to lay it all out, put down the “I have it all together” act, and talk to a real person who is here to help you deal with your shit and make real change.

Healing means welcoming all parts of you into the room

I’m also experienced in working with high achieving men and women, life transitions, anxiety, depression, the LGBTQ+ population, OCD, emotional regulation, and the aviation population. If you see yourself reflected here, I’d love to support you.

Kind Words

Dallas therapist providing bilingual, compassionate therapy for women and Latinas seeking mental health support in Dallas, Texas.
Uptown Dallas therapist providing bilingual therapy and mental health support for women and Latinas in Dallas, TX.

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who helps individuals, specializing in the Latine community, heal from trauma, recover from eating disorders, and navigate the complexities of a multicultural life.

I’ve worked in so many different areas of social work… from Child Protective Services to serving as a mentor at a residential facility for girls, doing medical social work in the ICU, ER, and Cardiovascular units, as a therapist in a higher level of care for eating disorders, and finally now in my own private practice.

I opened my own practice because I saw a huge disparity in how the Latina and Spanish-speaking community was served. I wanted to be able to focus on what each client needs from me in the moment instead of having to ask, “What does insurance need me to be?”

I’m a proud Latina who understands the reality of being stuck between two cultures! I spent a lot of time trying to change who I was to please my Mexican family or my American friends before doing my own therapeutic work to become confident in who I am, mis raizes, and how I want to show up in the world.

Therapy is serious work, but I’m also a big believer in the power of humor to help us heal.

With me, you’ll always get a real human sitting across from you, interested in getting to know you and passionate about helping you feel equipped and empowered to be the full, incredible version of you! (No matter what others expect or think.)

Answers to your questions about therapy at Poppy & Sage

Do you accept insurance?

Do you accept insurance?

No, and that gives us the flexibility and freedom to customize your therapy sessions to exactly what you need. We offer the option to do a superbill or sliding pay scale — just ask!

Do I need to have a dietitian if I’m seeing you for an eating disorder?

Do I need to have a dietitian if I’m seeing you for an eating disorder?

The answer is more nuanced than a simple yes or no. If you’re actively struggling with disordered eating, seeing a dietician will help with the physical side of things. If you don't currently have a dietician, I have a lot of referrals!

What is your cancellation policy?

What is your cancellation policy?

You must cancel your session at least 24 hours before our scheduled time or you will be charged the full session fee.

How often should I expect to see you?

How often should I expect to see you?

I recommend starting with weekly sessions. This will give us the opportunity to build a therapeutic relationship and address stressors as they happen. As we work together, we can talk about your progress towards your goals and begin to space sessions out.

I’ve never been to therapy. What should I expect?

I’ve never been to therapy. What should I expect?

Your first session will be a lot of "setting the stage.” I’ll give you the opportunity to ask questions about the practice policies and informed consent forms you signed. Then I’ll ask prompting questions like: "What led you to seek therapy?" or “What is the main stressor in your life?" I’ll also ask about the key players in your life (family, friends, coworkers, etc.)

After our intake session, we’ll continue to talk about how the thing that led you to seek therapy has been affecting you and what goals you have for therapy.

It's one of the 10 days where it's really nice outside, can we do a walk and talk session?

Absolutely! We’ll just make sure you sign a consent form first since the outdoors is not HIPAA compliant.
